Fareham-based South Coast Insulation Services (SCIS), a tier one partner to three major energy suppliers, has acquired Gloucestershire-based Cotswold Energy Group. The deal amount remains undisclosed. The agreement ensures that the business’s co-founders, Jon Bonnar and Robin Hodge will remain with the company. It will operate as a distinct division and maintain its own brand, separate from SCIS.
SCIS, established in 2010, currently serves clients such as housing associations and property owners. It provides comprehensive insulation solutions and assistance with funding.
This acquisition presents an opportunity for SCIS, which also has an office in Devon, to expand its service offerings into additional energy-efficient technologies. These will also include the installation of ground and air source heat pumps.
Cotswold Energy Group specialises in mechanical and electrical installation services, boasting a dedicated team of accredited engineers. Founded in 2018 by Jon Bonnar, Robin Hodge, and Aaron Stuart-Kelso, the business will now continue its operations without Stuart-Kelso’s involvement.
The deal was facilitated by Director Alex Sargeant and partner Mark Naughton from the FRP Corporate Finance Bristol office. They provided comprehensive support to SCIS throughout the acquisition process, including M&A and debt advisory services. James Crotty, a corporate associate at Foot Anstey, served as their legal adviser. The acquisition’s funding was arranged by NatWest, with Mikael Rosen and Richard Emblen leading the financing efforts. KBS and Harrison Clark Rickerbys advised Cotswold Energy Group.
Nicolas Gillanders, CEO of SCIS, emphasised the urgent need to address the climate emergency and the increasing demand for their services. Homeowners, private landlords, and housing providers are actively reviewing the energy efficiency of their properties in response to the climate crisis and the rising cost of living. SCIS aims to meet this demand by providing sustainable solutions that mitigate environmental impact while addressing affordability concerns.
