One of Wales’ most recognisable luxury holiday park operators has entered administration. After more than two successful decades in business, Celtic Holiday Parks is now seeking buyers. The business is quite well known in the industry for its award-winning sites across South Pembrokeshire.
Grant Thornton’s insolvency practitioners are spearheading the administration process and actively looking to sell business assets. Despite the administration, trading continues, and the leadership have retained all staff to ensure smooth operations for their customers. All bookings will be taken care of as usual, as staff members have been instructed to enable uninterrupted access for caravan and lodge owners.
Celtic Holiday Parks was founded in 2003 by managing director Huw Pendleton. Family-run since its inception, the company invested over £6 million into developing high-quality accommodation and leisure facilities. Its portfolio includes luxury lodges, static caravans, glamping pods, and traditional camping pitches. All of these scenic locations are backed by panoramic coastal views and on-site pools – a fact well noted by the hospitality brand’s customer base over the years.
The company operates three sought-after locations: Noble Court Holiday Park in Narberth, Meadow House Holiday Park in Amroth, and a third under the Celtic brand. Celtic Holiday Parks has received multiple accolades since 2003. These include ‘Luxury Accommodation Provider of the Year – South Wales’ and ‘Best Camping and Caravan Park in Pembrokeshire’. In 2022, Pendleton received a national award for his contribution to UK tourism.
During the pandemic, the business secured a six-figure loan from HSBC via the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBILS). This loan was taken to fund the development of an additional 54 holiday homes. While this helped the business grow at the time and boost its service offerings, it added to increased financial obligations in the longer run.
For buyers with an eye for leisure-sector turnarounds, this administration represents a rare chance to acquire a well-established brand with strong regional recognition, prime real estate, and a loyal customer base. With trading continuity, a retained workforce, and significant recent capital investment, Celtic Holiday Parks could present substantial upside for the right investor. Interested parties are encouraged to contact the administrators directly.
